Here's two for a spooky half term read. OOH they're page turners and really interesting pages as well-feels like a hand made book when you buy the "The Thickety-A path begins" by J A White and then the 2nd in the series "The Thickety The Whispering Trees". These are spooky, scary reads about Kara who discovers she is a witch. There's an element of Salem in the books as the village Kara lives in has banned magic. A path begins sees her on exactly that-her journey to finding out who she is all with the looming darkness of the Thickety in the background. It's a good read for 9+. I was recommended the book as a scary read when looking for scary reads on request from Halifax primary school in Ipswich. Lovely BROWSERS book shop in Woodbridge recommended the 1st one and then I had to get the next one in hardback which is always a good sign :-) Now if you read these two in half term which you may well do if you're curling up with a good book in between carving pumpkins then be warned you'll have to wait until February next year for the 3rd one. However, just to wet your appetite you can have a peep at the beautiful cover to "The Thickety Well of Witches" above. Happy Halloween reading.
