This is Poppy's choice-read a couple of years ago now when 'Paradise Barn' by Victor Watson first came out,sent by my lovely Cambridge pal Bridge. A very LOOOONg time ago Victor Watson was my professional tutor during my last 10 week teaching practice at Exning Primary school and a great one too. I do remember my very jolly headteacher stalling him with scones from the bakery before he came to observe me!
Since his retirement he has written these excellent books-the last of which we've just discovered so we're looking forward to the next installment.
We know about the first 2 books so can absolutely say they're a great mystery, great page turner (would say from 9+) AND excellent at giving readers a sense of what it was like during WW2 in the countryside. They really seem to be from a child's point of view-it's all seen through their eyes and a great read, carefully detailed.
Lastly, it is about barns so it's a must have - "Paradise Barn" for Abbey Farm Barn STORYSHACK.
