The excellent author of 'How to speak Fairy' ELLIE (made and wrote a whole book when she visited STORYSHACK) highly reommends AGATHA PARROT by KJartan Poskitt. She says they are really good reads-from 7+ and really loves them as they're funny and make her laugh all in a jolly good story. Can't get a much better recommendation from a STORYSHACK imagineer so am stocking them very soon for your delight. THANKS ELLIE!

I think this cardboard originally came from a show box but it has a rather unusual feature with a little porthole in. As you can see it's been put to very good use indeed by AMY who visited STORYSHACK today and turned it into a beautiful diary for all her musings. She's also collecting some special tags and pockets to go inside. I have a feeling when I see it next it will be jam packed with exciting writing.

Amy's brother-JOE-kept himself very busy catching lots of fish AND identifying them very well too with the help of one Miss. Hawes who popped in too. I couldn't resist popping in a couple of famous children's books with holes in. Can you think of any more?

Storyshack is open for AUTUMNAL imagining this Sunday from 10am-12pm. See you there.

"Autumn days when thegrass is jewelled
And the silk inside a chestnut shell.
Jetplanes meeting in the air to be refuelled.
All these thing I love so well"

AAAAH, lovely words evocative of Autumn AND Autumn in schools aswell. Have you ever seen jet planes waiting in the air to be refuelled? I always, always think of the 'silk inside a chestnut shell' whenever I see conker's lovely beds this season.

My Dad came to the first ever Harvest festival at Rendlesham. As families were waiting for the children to file in one of the dads asked him 'Which one's yours then?' to which my dad replied 'that one at the front!'.

We had lunch in an unusual place today and it reminded us of the well known character in the picture below....http://www.lightingcreativefires.com/1/post/2013/09/through-the-round-window.html is laying down a challenge to see if you know where it is, I think the  picture below might help you if you're still stuck :-)  The character's book has a link with the above.

Keep Calm and Expecto Patronum:

I know I know there are so many books around, wonderful writing abounds but look at how this one stands the test: wizards, adventure, potions, fantastical creatures, Quidditch and IMAGINING for young and Old (that'll be Louis here, Mrs. Edwards and myself-I'm putting me into the 'old'. The last film is currently on the telly so am watching it again even though I've seen it so many times but it's a good story and I don't care what anybody says. They're worth reading as there's much more detail in the books than in the film.

This week I have mostly been reading....

Tis week I have not mostly but, in fact, READ FULLY and enjoyed MUCHLY 'The Night Circus' by Erin Morgenstern. It was a wonderful, magical tale drawing you in to the life, sounds, smells of the Night Circus-you could be there and you wish it could come and visit your town too.  Having read it and sadly finished it all too soon it was passed on to Poppy who also really enjoyed it. There's one word in there but I really don't think the book is too terrible for 11+. It was certainly enjoyed on, again, many different levels by both of us. I'd recommend it whole heartedly if you haven't yet read it. I found I have copies at home so you can always borrow :-)
